A Victorian-era lachrymosa, also called lachrymatory, tear catchers, or tear vials. Sometimes worn on a necklace, sometimes merely held, they were used the gather the tears wept by mourners at funerals. One type of lachrymosa had a special top which allowed the tears to evaporate (signifying the time to stop mourning), others had a sealed top to allow the tears to last for a year, at which point they would be poured on the grave of the person whom the tears were wept for.

Mercury is represented by a rust colored Sapphire, Venus a golden Sapphire, Earth an irradiated blue Diamond, Mars a Ruby, Jupiter an Opal, Saturn a Cats Eye Chrysoberyl with an inlaid 24k gold ring, Uranus a green Sapphire, Neptune a blue Sapphire and Pluto a black Diamond. What really makes this ring special is that the band of meteorite spins independent of the gold ring, so when it is on, the planets rotate around the wearer’s finger.

Tales of Xillia 2 Announced

At today’s Tales of Festival event, series producer Hideo Baba officially confirmed the new game to be Tales of Xillia 2.

The sequel, in development for PS3 for release in Winter 2012, will take place one year after the original. You’ll once again be able to select between two main characters, one male and one female. Ayumi Hamasaki will once again do the theme song honors.

An official site for the new game will be opened shortly at tox2.tales-ch.jp.
